STARKE COUNTY PARK BOARD
December 13, 2016 6:00 PM Minutes
The Board of Directors of the Starke County Park Board held the regular meeting on December 13, 2016 at the Starke County Annex Meeting room. Roger Chaffins, president, called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM.
Roll Call – Present: Roger Chaffins, Chris Lawrence, Deb Mix, Rosie Rose. Butch Gerstandt came in at 6:10pm. Pledge of Allegiance –
Minutes -A motion to accept the minutes as written from 11/15/16 (Mix-Lawrence) and a vote carried the motion. A motion to accept the minutes as written from the 11/29/16Special meeting (Mix-Lawrence) and a vote carried the motion.
OLD BUSINESS:
Bass Lake Beach & Campground – Board members Roger Chaffins, Deb Mix, and Butch Gerstandt went to the beach and met Larry Clarich and the Building Inspector, Terry Stevenson on Dec. 4. Ms. Mix stated she had expected to see an inspection report from Mr. Stevenson. President Chaffins said he had not asked Mr. Stevenson for the report prior to this meeting and would make sure we had one before the next meeting. A motion was made (Lawrence-Rose) to have Attorney Lucas to contact the Planning Commissioner, Mr. Stevenson to have a report written for the next meeting. A vote carried the motion and Mr. Chaffins stated he would contact Mr. Lucas. We are at a stand-still without the inspection report.
Roger reported that no money has been returned to Callahan Enterprises since the commissioners consider the work done as expected maintenance.
S Year Plan – Mr. Mike Reese of the Troyer Group had requested that we share the survey for the Plan. He had completed the focus groups and the public hearing on Dec. 12, and now we are working on getting the survey out to the public. The deadline for the survey completion is Dec 22. Mr. Lawrence requested that the County put the survey link on their website. Brian Pinson of the IT department needs to be contacted. Roger will get the link to the Auditor’s office. Mr. Lawrence also stated that we should share the link. on Facebook as much as we can. We will get the survey out to the 3 schools as well since students are the future end users of the parks.
OTHER BUSINESS:
Boa Shores Park – Ms. Mix explained that she has been cleaning up the area of Boa Shores Park that is next to her property. She would like official permission: from the Park Board to do so as long as there is no cost to the County. A motion was made (Lawrence-Rose) to allow the tip of the triangle area of the Boa Shores Park to be cleaned up with no cost to the County. The motion was voted on and it carried.
The next meeting is on Tues., January 10, 2017, 6:00 PM, at the Annex meeting room.
With no further discussion, a motion was made and seconded (Lawrence-Rose), and the meeting was adjourned at 6:25 P.M.
